'Preserving the Sounds of the Past'

Michael Everett, our resident technician, was born Dec. 2, 1953, in Seattle, Washington. His family later moved to Lombard, IL, where he majored in Machine Shop and Music (playing tuned percussion) at Willowbrook High School, graduating in 1973.

Michael studied music box repair in Thetford, Vermont, and later clock repair in Lombard, IL. He worked for The Clocksmith for 5 years until coming to the Musical Wonder House in 1982. Michael is a world-class expert in the repair of Antique and New Musical Boxes, Spring-Wound Phonographs, Crank Organs, Singing Bird cages, birdboxes and Whistling figures.

Michael also restores clocks, including musical clocks, longcase, mantel, cuckoo, barrel organ and Black Forest.

The art of tuning and enhancing Musical Box Combs, almost completely lost today, is Mr. Everett's specialty.
